On the 3rd of October, the andorin was officially presented at the Birdwatching & Nature Activities Festival in Sagres and two days later, the first action of the project, a workshop on the identification of swallows and swifts! Two sessions that sold out, with public very interested in hearing about martins, swallows and swifts! We take the opportunity to congratulate Almargem, SPEA and the Municipality of Vila do Bispo for organizing yet another edition of an event that is increasingly becoming a reference for the birdwatching community in Portugal! Next year we hope to return!

The Basque writer Fernando Aramburu wrote a book in 2021 entitled "los vencejos" (literally translated "the swifts") in which the protagonist defines the return of the swifts the following spring as a pivotal moment in his own story. In May of this year, the publisher D. Quixote published the work in Portuguese, translated by Cristina Rodriguez and Artur Guerra, with the title "the return of the swifts" and a very nice cover, but where instead of swifts there are two barn swallows. Shall we learn how to identify them?

Andorin is the fourth project run by Vita Nativa dedicated exclusively to the conservation of portuguese birdlife. It is projects such as Local Accommodation for Birds or Bio-Ilhas, with which we are achieving promising results, that encourage us to develop andorin.
